CROZER CLOSING: What Employees Need to Know to Get Unemployment Compensation (Virtual)

Employees impacted by the sudden closure of Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital in Delaware County and other Pennsylvanians with questions about Unemployment Compensation are invited to a free, virtual information session, “CROZER CLOSING: What Employees Need to Know to Get Unemployment Compensation.” The webinar will be Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Please register at https://bit.ly/uc-5-1-2025. You will receive a Zoom link for the training.

Join attorneys from Legal Aid of Southeastern PA (LASP) and Philadelphia Legal Assistance (PLA) to understand the fundamentals of applying for unemployment compensation after job termination. The Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network (PLAN) will host the webinar.

The attorneys will also provide guidance on how to proceed if your request for unemployment compensation is denied.

This training is designed to assist Crozer Health employees who have recently lost their employment and is also open to the public.

Attorneys are welcome to attend, but CLE credit will NOT be provided. Legal aid staff are also invited. If you have questions about Unemployment Compensation in Pennsylvania, this training will provide helpful information.

About this training

On April 21, 2025, Prospect Medical Holdings announced the imminent closure of Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital, which are both located in Delaware County, PA. Employees were provided formal notice that their jobs will be terminated, and Delaware County issued an Emergency Declaration in response to the closure. Thousands are employed by the Crozer Health system, and they will be left without employment. This training, to guide employees on how to apply for unemployment compensation in a timely way and provide education on denial appeals, is needed at this time, given the large number of individuals who will be impacted.

Presenters

  • Lee Scoratow, Esq., Legal Aid of Southeastern PA (LASP) Staff Attorney based in Delaware County

  • Julia Simon-Mishel, Esq., Philadelphia Legal Assistance (PLA) Supervising Attorney for the Unemployment Compensation Unit
