After Crozer Closed:  How to Tackle Unemployment Compensation Issues

Have you run into issues with unemployment compensation since Crozer Health closed in May? 

Employees impacted by the sudden closure of Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital in Delaware County, and other Pennsylvanians with questions about Unemployment Compensation, are invited to a free, virtual information session, “After Crozer Closed:  How to Tackle Unemployment Compensation Issues.

The webinar will be Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Please register at https://bit.ly/uc-6-5-2025. You will receive a Zoom link for the training (check spam folder if needed).

Attorneys from Legal Aid of Southeastern PA (LASP) and Philadelphia Legal Assistance will present and answer questions. The Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network (PLAN) will host the webinar.

The attorneys will provide guidance on how to appeal if your application for unemployment compensation is denied, how to comply with UC requirements, and other common issues. They also will answer questions.

This training is designed to assist Crozer Health employees who recently lost their employment and is also open to the public.

Attorneys are welcome to attend, but CLE credit will NOT be provided. Legal aid staff are also invited. If you have questions about Unemployment Compensation in Pennsylvania, this training will provide helpful information.

About this training

On April 21, 2025, Prospect Medical Holdings announced the May 2025 closure of Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital, which are both located in Delaware County, PA. Employees were provided formal notice that their jobs will be terminated, and Delaware County issued an Emergency Declaration in response to the closure. Thousands are employed by the Crozer Health system, and they will be left without employment. This training, to answer employees' questions about unemployment compensation in a timely way and provide education on denial appeals, is needed at this time, given the large number of individuals who are impacted.

Understanding Protection Orders in Pennsylvania

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Phoenixville Public Library will host a free Zoom presentation, “Understanding Civil Protection Orders in Pennsylvania,” on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024 from 6:45-7:45 p.m.

Brian Doyle, Staff Attorney with Legal Aid of Southeastern PA, will be the presenter. He will discuss the two kinds of protection orders in Pennsylvania: Protection from Abuse (PFA) and Protection from Sexual Violence and Intimidation.

The session will cover who should seek protection orders, the differerences between them, the process for obtaining them, their purpose, how they are enforced, and what evidence a judge requires to issue one.

Victim Service Center of Montgomery County will host Melina Dixon, Legal Aid of Southeastern PA Staff Attorney, to discuss Intro to Estate Planning Documents. Learn about health care directives, powers of attorney, and wills. The free virtual event is Monday, May 1, 2023 from 12-1 p.m.
