Community Engagement Unit Supervising Attorney
NORRISTOWN - Laurel Anderson was named Supervising Attorney of Legal Aid of Southeastern PA's Community Engagement Unit on Oct. 28, 2025. She joined LASP in May 2022 as CEU Staff Attorney. She focuses her practice on record-clearing, homeless advocacy, and name changes.
Laurel previously clerked for Circuit Court Judge Robert A. Greenberg in Montgomery County, Maryland and served as an Assistant Public Defender with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender.
She holds a J.D. from American University's Washington College of Law and graduated with a B.A. in Social Work, Summa Cum Laude, from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota.
During law school, Laurel represented an adult who received a sentence equivalent to life without parole, as well as juveniles in pending delinquency cases through the law school’s Juvenile Life without Parole and Criminal Justice Clinics. Additionally, she taught constitutional law to high school students through the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project. She interned for the Maryland Office of the Public Defender, the District of Columbia Office of Police Complaints and the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office.
The University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School recognized Laurel as their 2024 Pro Bono Supervisor of the Year for her stellar work with Penn Law students in their name change project.
